Christ Lutheran Learning Center, a Christian preschool in south Oak Park, will be holding an Open House on Wednesday, February 1, from 6:30 until 8:00 pm. Visit the classrooms, meet the teachers, and talk with parents of children currently in our preschool. The entire family is welcome.

What We Believe

The mission of Christ Lutheran Church is that given by our Lord Jesus to all of his church, "Go and make disciples of all people, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you."

As a member church of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod we are committed to perpetuating the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We strive to teach only what Christ and His apostles taught in the New Testament, neither adding to nor subtracting from this original Christian doctrine. We are compelled to teach because Jesus commanded us to do so in His Great Commission. We teach His Word, and His alone, because only the rightly understood Law of God is capable of humbling proud minds and hearts and only the rightly understood Gospel of Christ is capable of consoling disturbed consciences and motivating Christian hearts toward true good works.

Christ Lutheran Learning Center

Register now for September preschool classes for your child.

Children who are 4 years old have the option of attending 3, 4 or 5 mornings per week.  The teacher for this class has 23 years of experience at our preschool and feels blessed to be able to share God's love with the children.

Children who are 3, or nearly 3, years old may attend Monday and Wednesday mornings or Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.  The teacher for this class is new to our school this year, after several years teaching in another Lutheran preschool.  She is bilingual, so the children will be exposed to the Spanish language during the school year.

Both classes meet from 8:45 until 11:15 am.   Each class also has an experienced assistant for more individual attention.

Children grow and learn in a developmentally appropriate, play-based, Christian atmosphere.  Occasional field trips are part of the preschool activities; in the fall we visit a farm and in the spring we take a train ride.  Parents are invited to join us on these trips.

Please call the church office at 708-386-3306 to ask for more information or to schedule a private visit - leave a message and your call will be returned promptly.

Worship

Our Lord speaks and we listen. His Word bestows what it says. Faith that is born from what is heard acknowledges the gifts received with eager thankfulness and praise. Music is drawn into this thankfulness and praise, enlarging and elevating the adoration of God, our gracious giver.

Saying back to him what he has said to us, we repeat what is most true and sure. Most true and sure is his name, which he put upon us with the water of our Baptism. We are his. This we acknowledge at the beginning of the Divine Service. Where his name is, there is he. Before him we acknowledge that we are sinners, and we plead for forgiveness. His forgiveness is given us, and we, freed and forgiven, acclaim him as our great and gracious God as we apply to ourselves the words he has used to make himself known to us.

The rhythm of our worship is from him to us, and then from us back to him. He gives his gifts, and together we receive and extol them. We build one another up as we speak to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Our Lord gives us his Body to eat and his Blood to drink. Finally his blessing moves us out into our calling, where his gifts have their fruition. How best to do this we may learn from his Word and from the way his Word has prompted his worship through the centuries. We are heirs of an astonishingly rich tradition. Each generation receives from those who went before and, in making that tradition of the Divine Service its own.

Christ Lutheran Church is a liturgical church, embracing this stance which is reflected in all our worship services.
